Clarity Backed by Expertise
How do i choose a chiropractor for my child? There are many Chiropractors out there who say they see babies and children or even call themselves paediatric chiropractors but actually have no formal qualifications. It is important to choose a Chiropractor who has post graduate qualifications in paediatrics such as a Diploma or Masters degree, as well as years of experience to go with it. This will ultimately mean greater expertise, resolving your child’s symptoms as quickly as possible in the safest way possible, saving your child pain and distress and you time and money.
At WellKids, Dr Erin has a Diploma in Chiropractic Paediatrics as well as 20+ years in practice. She also has 6 children of her own. She has helped thousands of babies and children resolve many and various issues. She has often resolved cases that other Chiropractors and Osteopaths have been unable to solve and has cared for many children of other Chiropractors too!
Does wellkids work collaborate with any other health modalities?Yes!.

I suspect my child’s nervous system is stuck in fight or flight. What can you do to help with that? Here at WellKids, a big proportion of our patients are in this exact position. They are children, adults and even babies who are stuck in a heightened neurological state of ‘fight or flight’. This can look like the twitchiness, restlessness, unfocused and flighty behaviours of those prone to ‘flight’ or the aggression, hitting, melting down and restlessness of those prone to the ‘fight’ aspect of this stress response.
The particular techniques used here at WellKids identify the presence of dural tension through the central nervous system that greatly contributes towards this state. It then effectively calms the nervous system by peeling away these layers of tension, lightening the stress load on the body with every adjustment. As each layer is removed, these behaviours become less extreme and resilience to falling immediately into this fight or flight response, begins to grow.
Additional contributors such as dietary factors, nutrient deficiencies, lifestyle habits and emotional traumas also contribute to falling into or staying in this ‘fight or flight’ state. At WellKids, we endeavour to address all causes to support normal, regulated nervous system function.
Does wellkids do primitive reflex integration?Integration is an interesting word. It is not resolution but the creation of new pathways to override faulty ones.
When primitive reflexes don’t integrate, they are a symptom of past or present neurological toxicity or deficiency. Creating new pathways with neurological rehabilitation does not seek to repair these underlying causes but rather to override them. In doing so, this work is very stimulating to a nervous system that is already in a heightened state of fight or flight.
Our approach here at WellKids is to calm the nervous system, allow healing and provide the nervous system everything it needs to function optimally. Where dysfunction continues to hinder the child, deeper work to uncover the underlying trauma can be pursued once the nervous system is in a healthy state to receive this depth of work.
I suspect my baby has a tongue tie. What can i do about it?Dr Erin is a qualified Paediatric Chiropractor as well as an Orofacial Myofunctional Therapist who is able to diagnose the presence of tongue tie.
Her techniques address insufficiencies in the cranial and palatal structures and the effects these have on creating dural tension through the whole nervous system.
Sometimes, this dural tension itself is enough to cause latch, suck and failure to thrive issues. Resolving this tension resolves the issues without the need for tongue tie surgery. Sometimes dural tension is largely contributed to by tongue tie and surgery becomes necessary. Dr Erin is experienced in identifying the source of the dural tension and resolving tongue tie and feeding issues as quickly as possible.
I’ve been told that my child need grommets. Is there any way to avoid that?Yes!
Blocked Eustachian tubes can be greatly impacted by tension through the central nervous system and misalignment of the upper cervical vertebrae. Grommets can often be avoided when these neurological and musculoskeletal contributors are rectified. It can be very worthwhile trialling a short cycle of care here at WellKids before resorting to grommets or even tonsillectomy surgery that don’t consider these contributors to the fluid build up.
